Relaxing in Sydney

SydneyWe’ve now been back in Sydney for a while….in Suz’s case a little more than a while.

As seen from the North Side…

She came back to Sydney in early August and within a week, managed to score herself a three month temping contract with a facililities management company – the pay is quite good, considering she now has to support the both of us for the next few months. As I’m in the country on a Tourist Visa, I’m unable to work…. so since I arrived in the beginning of September, I’ve been living the life of a kept man!!!!

I’m not too bad off though, I spend my weeks with some webdesigning and I also do some of the housework….I’ve become a “house husband”, and you know what…..it beats working! And Suz really appreciates the home cooked meals that greet her arrival home from work each day.

Anyway, we haven’t really done a great deal since arriving home, but we have celebrated two birthdays:

Suz’s birthday we celebrated in big style! She turned 30 and together with two of her mates they planned a combined 30th party.

The evening started out in Surry Hills at a Nepalease restaurant. 12 close friends and us had a nice dinner together and then we walked about 2 blocks to the pub where the party was at. They had booked the top floor for this event, which meant that we had our own bar and no one from outside the party was allowed in there……quite nice this way.

The evening was great, lots of people, good drinks and some cool music kept us all in a good mood. A bit later it was time to sing for the birthday people and the cake was carried in. Suzie reflected that her name was misspelt but since we were going to cut the cake open and devour it anyway it didn’t matter =))

The evening ended earlier than we thought, the pub closed down around midnight so we all had to leave the premises. On the outside Suz and I found ourselves playing with the helium balloons, sucking it in and saying goodbye to everyone in a helium voice…..immature, but funny.

The next night we went to Suz’s sisters place and had a nice dinner and another birthday cake for Suz. She even had some help from her niece Caitlin, and nephew Joshua, in blowing out the candles.

I just had my birthday a few days ago. We went out for dinner – my choice, so I ended up picking out a Czech restaurant. Lots and lots of good food (mostly different kinds of meat and potatoes) and of course some of the best beer you can get! The best thing about this restaurant is that they import the beers themselves. This means that you’ll find beers here that you won’t find anywhere else in Sydney (or Australia for that matter).

A few days later we went to Harry and Nelly’s place where they had a cake for me. It was a lovely cheesecake – and the best part were the candles, they looked like small beer cans….funny!!

The best part about my Birthday though was the present that Suz gave me……an Australian Cricket shirt, yes!! This will come in handy to wear when we are in New Zealand!!!! And whilst the ashes is playing….. I can’t wait for the cricket season to start.

Well we are slowly starting to get ourselves ready for the move to New Zealand. I’ve received my NZ working holiday visa, and Suz doesn’t need one to work there. We’ve also sorted out accommodation in Auckland. We’ll be leaving Australia on the 20th November, but at this stage we don’t know how long we’ll be staying there for. We’ll take it month by month and see how it all works out.
