Our Summer Holiday on the South Coast
As part of my work I was given the opportunity to work in Batemans Bay for a few weeks which I gladly accepted. And as I was already along the coast, we decided to make it our Summer holiday once I had finished up with work. We were lucky that we had family in the area, Moruya, where we could base ourselves from (thanks Julia and Brad) which meant that we could do a number of daytrips up and down the southern coast of NSW.
Since our kids love animals we decided to take them to Mogo Zoo. It’s a great little Zoo where Xander and Eloise were given time to not only see animals but also to feed them. At first we came across some deer which they enjoyed feeding, however when we came across the giraffes they were amazed!
On one day we found out that Tomakin has a small 18 hole miniature golf so we decided to treat Xander and Eloise to their very first game. They had a great time playing, although it took them quite a few shots to get that little ball into the hole 😉 . On another day we stopped in Bodalla at the Dairy Shed so that we could bottle feed the calves!
We did a day trip to Narooma on one of our days and wasn’t that a great pick! Narooma is probably one of the more beautiful spots along the NSW South Coast. The colours of the water show of a number of different shades of blue with great sandy beaches. Whilst there we visited Narooma’s Bar Beach South which is a great beach for kids as it’s enclosed. After a well deserved swim in the beautiful waters of Narooma, Xander and I visited a nearby dock where we saw a large Stingray in the water swimming near a fur seal…. as I said, it’s a great spot!
During the remainder of our days near Moruya we made a few other visits to local beaches such as Broulee and also got to take Xander out fishing… unfortunately we didn’t catch any fish that day, however Xander was enjoying it so we may need to go out again at a later date!
Eventually though it was time for us to leave the area as we were heading south to Eden in order to catch up with friends. We made our way south along the highway and made a stop at a few different locations. We stopped first at Bermagui to visit the Blue Pool followed by Tathra for lunch and then Merimbula before we reached our final destination.
It was great to catch up with some old friends, we were all originally living in Sydney but over the years we’ve all spread out to Canberra and Melbourne. As such this was the first time we all got to get together in a long time. Over the next few days we caught up with friends, played some great games and also visited some local sights such as the The Green Cape Lighthouse and also a local brewery The Longstocking Brewery, however before we knew it, it was time to head back home again!
We had a great time along the coast, Xander and Eloise were able to spend a lot of time in the ocean which we have missed since we’ve been living in Albury. The South Coast of NSW is absolutely stunning and we will have to make sure we return for an additional visit.
