An Engaging stay in Khao Lak
Visiting Khao Lak was not part of the original plan but after a few pleas and a guilt trip we decided to make a quick visit and visit our friends there… and we’re glad that we did!
Getting there was no problem…. we just caught a flight from Bangkok to Phuket and were then lucky enough to have the luxury of being picked up at the airport, always nice!
We booked our tickets to Phuket through AirAsia when we were in Zagreb, while we were booking them online we realized that we needed our passport numbers so while I ran to get them Suz decided to check the Sydney paper online to see what was happening around the world…
Well, the first thing she saw on the first page was an article about the plane crash in Phuket…. not what you want to read while booking a flight to the same airport! Suz got a bit spooked but I assured her that two crashes at the same airport would not happen (AirAsia also has better and newer planes than the other company).
The big day arrived, we boarded our plane and I must admit that we were both a bit nervous during landing. We knew nothing would happen but still…
Upon exiting the airport we met up with Olof and Oy, got to meet their little son Oscar and got a chance to catch up on our way back to Khao Lak and Poseidon Bungalows.
We arrived late so not much else happened that day. The next morning we jumped on a motorbike and rode in to Khao Lak where we first had a look around at what has been updated since our last visit (and it was quite a lot) and then met up with Alex for lunch to hear what he has been up to. Always fun to meet up with friends!
That evening we all met up in Khao Lak for some food and drinks and after a few hours Suz and I were back in our Bungalow at Poseidon Bungalows.
Since we had a glorious full moon that night I suggested to Suz that we’d take a walk down to the beach… Suz was a bit against it at first, since it was dark she couldn’t see all the small bugs and spiders and didn’t know how to avoid them. So, I led the way down to the beach…
Once we made it down there we were standing on a rock watching the waves roll in, the beach was empty, the moon was full and the time just felt right. I don’t remember the exact words that were spoken that night, but it was something like this:
We were both standing together on the rock hugging and I told Suz:
“I love you and can’t wait to marry you”
“I can’t wait to marry you too”, Suz said.
At this moment I looked at Suz and just asked:
“So will you?”
Any sort of fear or uneasiness that Suz was feeling about the bush creatures, at that moment disappeared in a heart beat, she looked at me and asked:
“Are you serious?”
I then got down on one knee and asked the question
“Suz, will you marry me?”
“Of course I will, yes!”, was Suz’s reply.
Well, that’s how easy it is =)
I had nothing planned when we walked down to the beach…. but when we were standing there the time just felt right, the place felt right and since I had been thinking about it for a while, I just popped the question….
The next morning we told Olof and Alex and were congratulated by both of them, now we only had to call our closest family members and tell them the awesome news =))
And like we said in the beginning, we were originally not planning to visit Khao Lak….
But we are really happy that we did!!
